In addition to events where everyone tries to be the very best, how about the LSF sponsoring an event or events that simply celebrate the joy of R/C soaring? A soaring related event like today's jet rallies or aerotow events. Something along the lines of the aborted Pre-Masters "Woodie Day" or Ray Hayes Wopodcrafters event to a provide couple of days of very low key competition like the longest flight of the day, a ladder event, or something similar. A cut off date for model design similar to the 1985 date proposed for the Masters Woodie Day could bring out a lot of participants. It could be billed as a Festival of Soaring or perhaps use a more clever name. Who knows, if it came to fruition, Gordy might even bring his Shuttle and a host of others might dust off some popular sailplanes of yesteryear just to see them in the air once more. I know it won't rival the famed IRCHA helicopter shindig but it could be a pretty good event for the Muncie site or someplace similar. How about some thoughts on this from the LSF membership?
