Ed, I'm pretty sure you know me. :) I'm Ryan from RC groups. I wish I could have met you at the NAts but I couldn't be there the days you were.

I am sort of a member of MIST, a small sailplane club based in Muncie, IN. I just re joined this year. I currently live about an hour away but with family and work I just make it to Muncie a few times a year.

Yes Ryan, I know you but did not recall your ever mentioning a club. I did not realize you were so close to Muncie.

Ed,

I have lived in different parts of Indiana. Prior to 2012 I lived in southern Indiana for several years and that was about 4 hours from Muncie. Then I was about 70 miles from LASS in Louisvillenand I was an occasional member of that club.

Hello All,
I live in central Indiana. I fly wooden Sailplanes, they are all I can afford.
I too sometimes fly at Muncie AMA Center.
I started with a Sanwa Radio and a Craft Air Drifter 2 "complete" kit with a upstart. Flown first in April 1981.

At present, the hangar holds a Bird of Time from the Dynaflite kit, and two scratch built aircraft. One a Ken Bates' Windlord from AMA plans (and an RCGroups build thread). The third is a copy from memory of Tom Williams' Wind Drifter.
A Renaud Sagitta 900 is being kitted this winter from RCM plans.

I am level 2. Lazy I guess.

Best Regards to all
Jim

Hey Jim, welcome!

I am a big fan of wooden gliders too having several. I wish I could have made the woody event this past weekend at Muncie. A family birthday party in Jasper kept me out of town this weekend.

Thanks for the welcome.
I too missed the Woodie meet this year. Where it once cost little to drive to a flying site, now it is a major part of a hobby budget at 4 bux a gallon.

Sheesh, I pumped gas for customers at 28.9 when drafted out of that job to another less well paid shaft.
The 99% knows about the shaft by now.

I enjoy the wooden aircraft very much.

Been setting out any soaring for too many years. Hopefully the electric "winch in the nose" will be adopted which will allow me to go after level II. It takes a lot to get me going at age 82, but that would do it.
