TOPIC: Status of ESAP Proposal?

I've looked around the web site but haven't seen anything one way or the other. Just wondering how the vote turned out.

Now that the Toledo show is over, and the LSF officers have had an opportunity to formally meet, what is the status of the proposed ESAP? Has it been officially ratified, is there a timeline for when it may be opened for participation, where do thing now stand?

I like the concept of the ESAP.

When is the form for ESAP, like the SAP, going to be published on the the LSF site?

The Electric Soaring Accomplishments Program is now open for participation. To enroll, use the LSF Application document found under the LSF Program tab at the top of the LSF web site. ESAP particpants who were not previously LSF members will receive an LSF member number upon completing Level I of the ESAP. ESAP participants who are already LSF members by virtue of attaining Level I in the SAP will retain their LSF number. For purposes of voting, the highest Level achieved in either the SAP or the ESAP will determine the member's status for a vote.

When are the final rules for ALES going to be published?

I know the committee gives up their private time though there is quite some positive interest in this new "SAP"

Events are provisional for two years, ALES becomes official in 2015 if I recall correctly.

30 second motor run maximum. General requirements as follows:

(X).1 General Specifications
1 Maximum surface area 2335 sq.in. (150 dm.
sq.)
2. Maximum weight 11 pounds (5 kilograms)
3. Maximum surface loading 24.59 oz. per sq.ft.
(75 gr/dm sq.)
4. Maximum battery voltage 42 volts
5. Model aircraft with variable geometry or area
must comply with these specifications when the
surfaces are in maximum and minimum extended
mode.
6. Mechanical or chemical modification of the
individual cells of a battery (e.g. to reduce their
weight) is not allowed, except that insulation
sleeves of individual cells may be changed.
7. Any device, fixed or retractable, intended to
arrest the model aircraft on the ground, or which
does arrest the model aircraft on the ground,
during landing is prohibited.
8. No wing tip launches are allowed (discus,
side-arm, etc.),
9. All ballast must be carried internally and
fastened securely within the airframe.

Forgive my ignorance, but if ALES was provisional, wouldn't it say provisional in the rules?

Also looking at the NATs application form ALES is not marked provisional.

I think it is an official event now.
